Friday 27th – Monday 30th May inclusive

10.00 am to 6.00 pm daily.    Light lunches and refreshments available all day

This year’s theme: “Ring the Changes”

to mark the centenary of the re-casting, re-hanging and dedication of our fine peal of bells

At one time the Tower of the Church in Stratton boasted 5 bells, for between 1558 – 1598 considerable sums of money were being spent on their renovation, and later a sixth bell was added. In 1878 the six were recast & two trebles added to complete the octave. The ring was not satisfactory so in 1911 John Taylor & Co. of Loughborough, re-cast and re-hung the bells in a metal frame. When the work had been completed the clock was coupled to the bells and the “Guildford Chimes” installed as a memorial to Octavia King, the wife of the local doctor.

The church will be full of flowers with 24 or more arrangements representing not only our own octave of bells but many other bell-based themes. As usual, it promises to be a real treat - so come and enjoy and bring your friends.

On Saturday 28th May at 7pm there will be an evening of entertainment along the same theme. The speaker will be the Revd Preb. James Vincent, now retired, but one time Rector at St. Michaels, Bude Haven. Admission £3. It will be an entertaining and anecdotal evening followed by refreshments.  Click here for more information,

Throughout the festival, there will be demonstrations of the Frank Mack Garage Ring on loan from the Guild of Devonshire Ringers. This mini ring has 6 bells weighing from 14ozs to 1lb 9ozs and is used for training and publicity purposes.

On Sunday 29th May at 6pm, there will be the Benefice Sung Evensong, featuring the combined choirs. Everyone is most welcome to join us.
