FoStA PROJECT - Work on damaged tree in Churchyard (2011-2012)

Following a storm in December 2011, a large branch from a horse chestnut tree fell into a garden adjacent to the churchyard.

The County Forrester advised that the tree should be pollarded to a height of 4 metres to minimise the risk of damage to church windows and nearby graves - as well as to passing pedestrians! As the tree is subject to a TPO, permission of Cornwall Council was required for this work, which was carried out in January 2012 by a local contractor.

The cost (£330) was met by a grant from FoStA.

The branch that fell …

… and where it was!

… then pollarded.

10 months later!
